WRI – The next meeting of the WRI will be held in St. Bride's Centre on Thursday January 22 at the earlier time of 6.30pm, as a meal will be served at 7pm. Transport will start to pick up at 6pm. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by 2 Pure Sounds.
Christmas Draw – Winners of the Lodge St. Brides No118 Christmas draw which took place recently are as follows – 1st prize £50 – A Drummond, whisky – R Doolan South Lanarkshire Council, S Brown & G Duffin, vodka – J Tweedie, sherry – RWM 118, Baileys – J Todd, box of wine – J Brodie, wine – A Clark 1630, W White, D Webb, G Hunter, A O’Neill, N Howat & Guy Smith, mystery prize – W Steele, A Drummond, N Baird & S Potter, chocolates – M White & J White and box of biscuits – Guy Smith. The lodge members would like to thank South Lanarkshire Council for the donation to the pensioners treat.
Fishing Permits – UCAPA Clyde fishing permits are now on sale, this permit covers the Douglas Water. Please note that a passport size photo is required for annual permits. To obtain your permit please contact A Banks on 01555 880370 or S Smith on 07546868561.
Over 50’s Club – Winners of games played on Tuesday January 6 were dominoes – Campbell Sloan, challenge dominoes – Jenny Taylor, whist – Jenny McAdam and bowls – Margaret Gardiner, Jinntie Hastie and Jenny Morris.
Douglas Heritage Museum –For our 2009 session the museum is hoping to stage an exhibition of occupations past and present in the Douglas Valley. This subject is being undertaken in close co-operation with staff and pupils of the top two classes in Douglas Primary School. The museum desperately needs photographs, artefacts, memorabilia etc to set up this display successfully. If you have any items at all relating to our local factories, transport firms, mining, estate work, agriculture, weaving etc etc etc and feel that you could lend them to us at the museum please contact Bert on 851382 or Jimmy on 851298 as soon as possible.
Douglas Valley Church – On Sunday January 11 Rev David Easton conducted worship and the reader was John Gold. As the hall will be out of commission there will be no teas or coffees this Sunday after morning worship. This Sunday Rev David Easton will conduct the service at the usual time of 10am.
