community clean up - november 2012

As part of Youth Work Week the young people and staff of Universal Connections combined with members of Douglas LEAF, Douglasdale REAL Group and Douglas Community Council embarked on a sponsored Community Clean-Up on Saturday 3rd November. The volunteers, kited out in protective clothing provided by the Local Authority Cleansing Department, soon filled the skip sited at Angus Avenue with an accumulation of refuse which included litter, garden waste and the ubiquitous fly tipping.
The substantial efforts of the volunteers left the area between Angus Avenue and Glebe Avenue, in particular, completely free from refuse for the first time in many years.
The young members of Universal Connections have decided to donate all sponsorship monies received to Cancer Research UK.

Thanks to all involved in participation and organisation.
