Since its formation in 1989, The Friends of Lady Home Hospital has spent thousands of pounds in providing equipment to a cottage hospital already recognised for the very caring staff therein. The monies have come from many sources including patients, families of patients, bequests, retiral collections, at funerals and of course, individuals and companies within its catchment area. We also receive monies from collection cans placed in several premises throughout the area. We even have received monies from people who have heard of the hospital through patients, who may have talked about it on holiday or who had reason to call in for minor repairs whilst travelling in the area. These monies have enabled the Friends to purchase equipment such as electric beds, chairs, hoists and slings, state-of-the-art baths, overbed-tables, portable TV’s and of course £15,000 left: by the late Dr. Somerville which was put towards the extension known as the Dr. Somerville Room that provides over-night accommodation for relatives of seriously ill patients. We are grateful to all the people who continue to support this Scottish Charity, enabling us to provide items for the hospital, making it one of the best equipped cottage hospitals in the country.
