Fun game or fundraiser for the Dr Gardner Cup 19??, can you help ?
It's thought that the above picture was one of the teams that played in a fundraising game to raise funds for a football cup to be played for locally.
The Dr Gardner Cup became a popular tournament played for annually by the local primary schools.
Dr Ian Gardner died in 1971.
Can you tell us why and when the game was played and what the score was ?
Thanks to Ian Houston of Douglas (front row, second left) the above, and now much restored photo' is of the Gray Tool team before the match at the Dale park. Notice anthing missing .... apart from the socks of one of the team in the front row .... here's a clue, look behind the team...?
