Hi,
I'm trying to find my Father in-law's army service record he served with the Cameronians in WW1 his name was Pte Ralph Smith from Burnley Lancashire he was a Telegraph boy riding a bike through the lines with messages for the officers

just to add my congratulations to the folk who do this site. it was a good buzz to come across it and see lots of names from the past. i was born in the cottage hospital in 1960 and left in 1971. it was a great place as a kid and ive been back a few times to visit, im only 20 miles away but its a different world and when i go back its a weird sensation, but nobody can take the memories away! thanks again

My girlfriend and I visited Douglas today. Morton's are a sept of the Clan Douglas and it was really great to visit a bit of the history. St Bride's is amazing inside and I found a couple of Morton's in the graveyard and war memorials. My girlfriend is Polish and it was amazing to see the Polish connection to the village as well. Lovely place :o)

I lived in the Glespin from 1967 until 1984. My Mum was Maimie and my big brother was Andy, then there was Sheila, myself and Arthur. We lived at 24 Hillview Crescent. Sadly Mum died in 2004 and Andy died very suddenly last November. Have been trying to contact a few people, Margaret Mitchell (who I know lives in Rigside), Kay Scanlon, Heather Ramage, Joan Borthwick, Ross Lindsay and Ian and Stephen Potter - any info would be great, thanks

looking forward to coming back to my wee village, bringing my girls to see where i was brought up, been over 6 years since i was last over coming in march for 7 weeks, hope to catch up with a few old mates. see you all soon.
